Chai steps.
It kinda sounds like ‘how to be zen’, but I was surprised at how easy it was to make some Chai concentrate. I think Meg would like it, I remember her talking about Chai tea before in one of her posts. If so then this one is for her.
First, like any instruction, get your ingredients.
- black tea
- cinnamon
- star anise
- cardamon
- ginger
- nutmeg
- pepper
- cloves
These are the herbs you use, and actually it says to add orange zest, but since I didn’t have any on hand, I didn’t use it. I can’t really tell a difference…
Then you want to get 4.5 cups of water boiling.
Once it’s boiled, take it off heat and put in your dry stuff.
Stir it a bit, then add your sweet stuff.
- brown sugar
- vanilla essence
- honey
Once you’ve done that you’re good to go. Let it steep for 20 mins, go do your exercise, shower, fiddle around the house then come back to your tea.
Grab a strainer and ‘cheese cloth’, but I just used a normal hand towel, and it didn’t give me grief.
Then you’ve got yourself some Chai tea concentrate! I love how it’s really strong and yet so spiced and slightly sweet you barely notice how much tea you’re really drinking.
Good luck with your chai ;)
